Share your comments, questions, and ideas here!

This page is in support of the Resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Communities (RISC) workshop to be held on June 9 and 10, 2014.

It's been established to promote sharing comments and ideas as the workshop progresses (as it turns out, the website itself does not allow participants to offer comments). So this area is for all your comments, ideas, issues for debate--anything you'd like to discuss. Just insert your comments below. If there are no comments yet, click where it says "no comments" to open the comment window.

While we'd prefer that you comment with your name, you may also comment anonymously if you prefer. We will, of course, keep this open during the course of the workshop and after.

  1. A question was posed by a researcher at the end of the June 9-10 - Resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Communities workshop: “What resilience topics do the federal agencies want/need research?” On July 22, the Federal Facilities Council Standing Committee on Physical Security and Hazard Mitigation (under the auspices of the National Research Council) is conducting a roundtable focusing on life-cycle approaches to federal facilities resilience to climate change and critical infrastructure threats. Participants in the roundtable will come from FFC member agencies as well as other countries. The roundtable is looking to identify gaps and barriers in:
    • Risk assessments and risk assessment process
    • Responding to risk assessments and prioritizing actions based upon risk assessments
    • Policy, practices, and products needed for improving resiliency of facilities (e.g. design criteria, standards, etc.)

The identified gaps will are intended to be the foundation for future workshops, technical reports, and research.

If anyone is interested in helping to frame some questions for the roundtable, that could help inform research needs, please reach out to me. A summary report of the roundtable will be available.
